Why choose in home newborn photography?
I know what you are thinking, with a home like this it’s not difficult to find beautiful areas to photograph! Don’t worry though, you don’t have to have a professionally decorated and perfectly styled home for a newborn session in your house to be amazing! The early weeks with a new baby can be overwhelming and are certainly exhausting. To some of my clients, cleaning their home and being ready for a photographer to come over sounds awful, to others that sounds so much better than getting the baby in the car and going to a studio! There is no right way to do a newborn session, it’s whatever you envision and are comfortable with! When photographing newborns in their home, we tend to stay in the master bedroom, baby’s room and possibly the living room. Is the light amazing in those rooms? GREAT! Is it terrible? NO PROBLEM! I bring a studio light with me to all my in home sessions to make sure we have those crisp portraits that you would get in the studio. Do you hate your furniture? That’s ok! We do a lot of tight shots and can make something just ok look far better in photos. Basically, I can make anything work, so if a newborn session at home is what you are dreaming of, go for it!
Let me first start off by saying, this home is stunning! Not one detail has been overlooked, its modern but still comfortable. It has lots of color, but still plenty of neutrals. Everything down to the closets are beyond fabulous, which is precisely why we started the session in the closet! This was a first for me to choose a closet to shoot in, but OMG, you have to see it to believe it!
We put sweet Charlie in a little fluffy pink tutu skirt with a crown of course! I can’t help but bring in my newborn posing skills, even in a home session, so we did a little head up pose on the ottoman in the closet. Do you spy a tiny little fashionista amongst the Louboutins, Jimmy Choos and Gucci heels? There are some legit dress up games in this little lady’s future!
Charlie had the most adorable room!!! The interior designer was Shay with IBB design. I love how she mixed the black and white Hunt Slonem bunnies wallpaper and curtains with the Tiffany blue and pink pops! The custom Breakfast at Tiffany’s art really pulls it all together! What fun spaces for me to work with and what a beautiful and sweet little baby Charlie is! Congratulations on your new addition!!
