Originally Catherine and Mike wanted a studio newborn session, but after Lily was born they really didn’t want to go to Fort Worth and mess with that. No problem! We love Dallas lifestyle newborn photography and adore photographing families in their homes!
Pros and Cons of Lifestyle Newborn Photography
The number one reason our clients decide on having their newborn session at their home is to capture a look at life inside their house with a new baby. The nursery, the coziness and an overall vibe that you just can’t get with a studio session. How fun it must be to look back and see exactly how the nursery was decorated, how teeny tiny they looked in that crib and how much you loved rocking them for what seems like a zillion hours in that cute rocker.
Convenience. Simple as that. You may not feel like leaving your house.
You can include the family pet! Our furry friends don’t last forever and people are always so thankful they got them in some professional photographs when they get old.
Now to the cons.
Your house needs to be pretty spotless, or at least the nursery, living room and master bedroom. You never know what room I am going to like the light the best and that could be a random guest bedroom or something. We do bring a studio light with us in case of disastrous light.
I am unable to get all those precious posed shots that truly showcase the newborn. I do a few posed set ups in homes, but it’s not the same. If you had your heart set on those adorable poses, then an in home shoot would not be the best choice for you.
There is no right or wrong choice, it all comes down to personal preference. Also, if you decide on a lifestyle newborn in your home, then you can always do the six month or one year session in the studio to get a totally different look!
