First birthday portraits are a big dang deal! It’s a huge milestone! I have all 4 of my kid’s one year canvases hanging in our playroom. I look at them almost every day and love thinking how similar they all look at that age, especially my 3 girls. Pierce’s family chose to do his one year pictures at a lake. There is just something about water that makes a photo so serene and special. We have carefully scouted out safe and beautiful water locations that we love taking photos at! Pierce’s big sis and parents joined him for this session and we all loved the pictures!

Side note: one year olds are not usually thrilled to be having their photo taken. Don’t be concerned if your child didn’t seem to be happy for a lot of the shoot, I promise we will get great shots that you will look back on and adore! It also helps to have mom ready to jump in photos if baby is feeling clingy or concerned.
