October begins the insanely busy time for photographers. Lauren and I basically take off Halloween and Thanksgiving from October 1st to December 22. If it doesn’t rain out a session or snow out a session we are working. And even if it does we are at what we like to call “corporate headquarters” working on edits, orders, design, packaging, marketing, website, invoicing, etc. Let me just describe corporate headquarters for you so you can get a real feel of how professional our work space is. Down a steep stairway into the basement of my 1920s home, there are 2 computer desks, a couch, a stack of boxes up to the ceiling from orders, and about 20 toys on the floor. After the hours of 3:00 pm you can also find whiney children watching TV or asking us to print color by numbers. You can usually find 5 half empty glasses of water on my desk and 2 coffee mugs. Lauren’s desk is really organized and covered in sticky notes with information on sessions, financing terms and other stuff like that. It may not be a state of the art office, but we get a lot done down here in the dungeon.
In addition to all of our family sessions in the fall, we have our normal newborn sessions in the studio in the mornings. We have photographed about 80 newborns this year. We love it. Each session is special and carefully planned and thought out. It’s a big responsibility to be trusted with photos that will mean so much to a family and we don’t take it lightly.
So let’s get on with it….our October babes!
