Baby Ava is what we call an oldborn. She’s still very much a newborn to the regular world, but to the photography world she was a bit old to get all the newborn shots I can typically get in a session. I believe she was about one month old at this shoot, and she did great!
One good thing about older newborns are that their eyes can focus really well, any yellow tint has vanished and their eyes are open a lot more than two week olds. The tricky thing is, if they are awake, they will likely have to be tightly swaddled so arms and legs aren’t flailing around. This means less variety in poses, so it is a trade off for those beautiful eyes wide open pictures.
She feel asleep just long enough to get the very popular froggy pose.
Ava is such a doll and her parents were so laid back and wonderful with her. Great family to work with!
