Lauren and I were thrilled to get to see the Powell family again as their Dallas Lifestyle Photographers! We had done Peyton’s one year photos, and they wanted to have us out to their new neighborhood to do Parker’s one year pics. It’s always fun, challenging in a good way, and a little nerve-racking to go to a location I haven’t photographed before. In this case, I hadn’t ever laid eyes on this area, had no idea of the lighting situation or anything about the surrounding area even.
This is a new development, and a really cool concept. There was a farmer’s market going on, a coffee shop in the neighborhood, lots of community areas, a pool, fitness center, playgrounds, just a real family friendly place. I can totally see why they wanted to do their photos here to not only remember their children at the ages when they first moved into their new home, but to look back and see what the community that they loved so much looked like when they began that phase of their life.
We started early in the morning, just as the sun was coming up over the houses and new little trees. Since it was about to get really bright, we went into this little grassy area first. The kids were so cute together! We strolled through the community and stopped at the coffee shop for some photos, in the pool area, and then ended the session in front of their new home.
Location choice can make the photo session so personal, if you have a place that is meaningful to your family don’t hesitate to tell us! I love shooting at new places and customizing a shoot that tells your story!
